The algorithm is logically set up by the software developer and included in the program using many equations and functions into the program of the particular section of the application software.

Similarly, the operating system can do the same as the application software performs after input instructions to solve the problem of computing using the program algorithm of the operating system. 

But the operating system uses different programming algorithms to solve the computing problem as compared to the application software program algorithm.

In Simple words, a calculator is used to take input data in the form digit, and uses the function of adding, subtraction, multiplication or division etc. According to the calculator application for processing the input data to give output data after calculation of two or more digits on the display bar of digit for output data.

Similarly, a spreadsheet is used to include the function, formula, data control validation etc. On the cell, where the cell is the cross section of the columns or attribute and record or row.

When the user applies the function on the cell then the spreadsheet application calculates the data as an output data in the cell which is the value of the cell of a particular record.
